Canning, freezing, and drying continue to be popular activities for home food preservers. Even before the pandemic, interest in these traditional activities was increasing as people are increasingly interested in where their food comes from, how it was raised, and what ingredients are added. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people flocked to the stores to purchase canners and canning supplies which led to a nationwide shortage.
