Actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital by son Ibrahim Ali Khan in an autorickshaw, say sources. No driver was available at their Mumbai home at the time.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Mumbai residence at around 2:30 am on Thursday. Following the incident, Saif’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, rushed him to Lilavati Hospital.
Sources told Nivella that Ibrahim, 23, had to take his father to the hospital in an autorickshaw as no driver was available at their residence during the early hours of the morning.
Saif is currently recovering at Lilavati Hospital after undergoing surgery for injuries sustained during the attack. He might be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days.
On Thursday, a house help raised an alarm about an intruder in the children’s room at around 2:30 am. Saif confronted the intruder upon entering the room and was stabbed six times, sustaining severe injuries. The intruder, who has been identified, fled from the spot.
Sources revealed that Kareena Kapoor and her sons, Taimur and Jeh, were at home during the incident.
Police have confirmed that the intruder accessed the house around using the fire escape in an attempted burglary.
Saif Ali Khan’s team released a statement early on Thursday where they requested the “media and fans to be patient”.
“There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” a statement by Saif Ali Khan’s team read.
A case has been filed by the house help against the intruder under sections linked to trespassing and attempt to murder the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
