
Rewa News: A Muslim youth and his 21-year-old pregnant Hindu partner were attacked by some lawyers in the court premises in Rewa district. The couple had reached the court to register their marriage.
Madhya Pradesh News: A Muslim man and his 21-year-old pregnant Hindu partner were allegedly attacked by a group of lawyers in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, following which a case was registered against unidentified persons. A police officer gave this information on Saturday. The video of the incident, which took place on Friday in the court premises, went viral on social media, in which a police officer can be seen taking the couple to a safe place.
The woman said that she married Rajib Khan on June 28, 2023 according to Islamic customs and she is three months pregnant. The woman said, “On Friday, the mob threw me on the ground twice in the court premises. The city police inspector saved our lives by taking us to a safe place in his four-wheeler. I don’t know why these people are attacking us, while my parents have no objection to our marriage.”
The woman is in contact with Rajib Khan in 2021
The woman said that she came in contact with Rajib Khan in 2021 when she accidentally dialed his number and the conversation started between the two. She said that we are from different villages of the same police station area. Rajib Khan said that he and the woman had come to the court premises because their lawyer wanted them to sign some papers to get their marriage registered.
Rajib Khan said that a group of lawyers beat me up in the lawyer’s chamber. I got injuries and I have taken painkillers. The group abused us and cursed my wife and said that she should die. Advocate Sharda Singh, a woman lawyer and some friends saved us.
Police registered a case
The couple was taken to the police station after these lawyers informed the local authorities about the incident and sought protection for Khan and his companion. Rewa Zone Acting Inspector General Saket Pandey said a case has been registered against unknown persons on Khan’s complaint. Civil Lines police station in-charge Kamlesh Sahu said a case has been registered against the accused for assault, abuse and threats.
