The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear on Friday several petitions filed by long-jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, demanding a judicial inquiry into the May 9 violence and alleged rigging in last year’s general elections. Information about this was given in local media reports on Tuesday.

Imran was arrested on 9 May 2023
Imran Khan was arrested by paramilitary force Rangers on 9 May 2023 from the Islamabad High Court premises. After this, the demonstrations in Pakistan turned violent and people turned violent. Imran’s supporters vandalized several military establishments including Jinnah House (house of Lahore Corps Commander) and ISI office in Faisalabad and also committed heavy arson.
However, regarding this violent demonstration, Imran alleges that these incidents of May 9 were carried out in a planned manner by his political opponents. Former PM Imran says that he has been implicated in the cases related to violence due to ‘political vendetta’.
