
Atlanta, Georgia — On February 1, 2025, officers assigned to the Atlanta Police Zone 4 Crime Suppression Unit were notified that a vehicle involved in an armed robbery in Hapeville was in their area.
Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle near Dodson Dr. and Ben Hill Rd. The vehicle initially stopped for officers but quickly fled, and A.C.E. Unit officers engaged in a pursuit. The pursuit ended with an A.C.E. Unit officer using a PIT maneuver. One suspect continued to attempt to elude arrest by running from the vehicle. Officers quickly located and took the fleeing suspect into custody. The second suspect remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody. The suspects were identified as 34-year-old Detavious Waller and 34-year-old Juwaan McKinnon. The Hapeville Police Department was the arresting agency for the two suspects.
In a recent incident, police quickly subdued and arrested two suspects after one of them attempted to flee from a vehicle in an attempt to evade police.
According to a law enforcement report, when officers conducted a traffic stop, one suspect immediately exited the vehicle and fled. A pursuit ensued as police attempted to approach the suspect. The suspect fled into a nearby residential area, attempting to weave through alleys and backyards to avoid detection. However, with the assistance of rapid response units and K9 units, police were able to track and quickly locate the suspect.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing screams and seeing police chasing the suspect through the streets. Some residents even alerted authorities, helping to narrow down the search area. After about 10 minutes of intense pursuit, the police approached the suspect and successfully subdued him without any unfortunate incidents.
Meanwhile, the second suspect remained in the car and did not resist when approached by the police. Immediately, the officers escorted the suspect out of the vehicle and searched the car for related evidence. Details of the evidence in the car have not been disclosed.
The identities of the two suspects were identified as Detavious Waller, 34, and Juwaan McKinnon, 34. Currently, both have been detained to serve the investigation. The authorities are continuing to clarify the incident and related allegations.
