Brooklyn, NY — On Thursday, December 5, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m., at Park Avenue and North Portland Avenue, Brooklyn, 21-year-old Christopher Ferguson discharged several shots from a firearm at another person.
Ferguson then fled that location as the passenger in a black Honda Accord. Shortly after the shots were fired, a civilian witness flagged down officers assigned to the 84th Precinct and provided them with a description of the vehicle that Ferguson fled in, including the color, make, model, and license plate number. The officers then transmitted, via radio, the vehicle’s description to other units in the vicinity.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., the black Honda Accord was located near the intersection of Fulton Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. At approximately 3:11 p.m., officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Fulton Street and Franklin Avenue. The Honda, however, fled the location at a high rate of speed. The officers pursued the Honda for approximately 2 1⁄2 miles to the front of 184 Utica Avenue. There, the Honda struck another vehicle and became disabled. As Police Officer Aguilar approached the Honda, Ferguson emerged from the front-passenger door and pointed a firearm at the officer. As a result, Officer Aguilar discharged 16 shots from his service firearm, and Officer Reis discharged three shots from his service firearm, striking Ferguson several times. Ferguson was transported from the scene via ambulance to Kings County Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle was also struck by gunfire and transported from the scene via ambulance to Kings County Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries.
