After the arrest of the accused Shariful, it was revealed during interrogation that he had tried to enter other flats before entering Saif’s house. Saif was attacked in the early hours of Thursday. He was stabbed with a knife after entering the house. Saif was injured in the incident. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Attempt to enter another flat
Accused Shariful told the police that before entering Saif’s house, he had tried to enter another flat in the same building. Police said that before attacking Saif, he had done a recce of the actor’s house. He planned the attack on the night of January 15. On January 16, via Bandra and Khar, he reached Satguru Sharan, where Saif Ali Khan lives with Kareena Kapoor Khan and family.
To avoid being caught on CCTV cameras, Shariful passed through several lanes in Khar and finally reached the actor’s building. He told the police that he found it very luxurious and decided to attack. He entered the building by scaling a four-foot high compound wall of the adjacent building.
Climbed up the pipeline
When Shariful entered Satguru Sharan, the watchman there was taking a nap. To climb up 12 feet, Shariful used a ladder lying in the building premises. Then climbed up the pipeline.
As the duct on the fourth floor of the building was covered with pigeon droppings, he got out of it and climbed to the seventh floor using the emergency staircase. That’s when his picture was captured in the only CCTV camera installed on the sixth floor.
On the seventh floor, he again entered the duct to climb into the actor’s flat through the bathroom window, a police officer said. Investigations revealed that after escaping from the actor’s house in Satguru Sharan Building at 2.30 am on January 16, he jumped 12 feet from the first floor to the ground.
What else did the officer say?
“Our investigation revealed that the accused climbed the stairs to the seventh-eighth floor, then entered the duct area and climbed to the 12th floor using a pipe and entered the actor’s flat through the bathroom window. He then came out of the bathroom where he was spotted by Saif’s staff, which triggered a chain of events that led to the attack,” an officer said.
The accused started arguing with a domestic help present in the house and demanded Rs 1 crore. Hearing the commotion, Saif rushed there and caught him from the front, the officer said.
The accused panicked and stabbed Saif on his back. Later, Saif locked the flat as he thought the accused was trapped inside. However, the accused managed to escape from the same spot from where he had entered,” the officer said. We have recovered a hammer, screwdriver, nylon rope and other items from his bag.

Shariful, the accused who attacked Saif Ali Khan in his own house, was arrested from Thane. He is a resident of Bangladesh. He is 30 years old. A senior police officer said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the person entered the actor’s house with the intention of theft.

He is a Bangladeshi citizen and after coming to India, he changed his name from Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad to Bijoy Das. Saif was stabbed several times by the attacker on Thursday in his house located on the 12th floor of Satguru Sharan Building in Bandra. The doctors who operated on Saif later removed a 2.5-inch piece of broken knife from his spine. The doctors said that if the knife had penetrated two millimeters more, it could have caused serious injury.
